Free Credit Reports

Since June 1, 2005, Kentucky residents have been eligible to receive a free annual credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus. We encourage our customers to take advantage of this opportunity and review your credit report once a year.

Remember that the report is free, but the credit bureaus may offer you other services for which they will charge you a fee (such as unlimited access to your report during the year or access to your credit score). You don’t have to purchase any of these additional services to obtain your report.

As always, if you’ve been denied credit you may still obtain a copy of your credit report free of charge by following the instructions on the Notice of Adverse Action that your prospective lender provides.

Perhaps the easiest way to obtain all three reports is over the internet, at

            www.annualcreditreport.com

This website is sponsored by all three credit bureaus and will take you through the various processes that each of the bureaus required. You should probably have access to your financial information since they will ask you questions about your borrowing history in order to verify your identity. Once you have completed this process, the credit report will be available for viewing on your computer.

Alternately, you may call the toll-free number each bureau provides:

Trans Union: (877) 322-8228

Experian:       (888) 397-3742

Equifax:         (800) 685-1111

If you find incorrect information on your report, you will have to file a dispute with the credit bureau on which the bad information is found. If the dispute involves your loan with First Federal Savings Bank, please call us and we’ll work with you to resolve the problem.
